Meet Donna Nowak - ShowOffs Founder

Donna Nowak: From Programmer to International Product Developer

Donna Nowak’s remarkable journey—from computer programmer to stay-at-home mom, to temporary tattoo artist, and ultimately to internationally recognized product developer—began in the most unassuming way: a local elementary school festival with her two children. While other parents supervised rides and served refreshments, Donna brought along a pair of airbrushes and homemade stencils, introducing many to the world of temporary tattoos for the first time. It wasn’t long before she realized she was on to something big.

Students, parents, and faculty lined up eagerly in the school hallway, each waiting for their first temporary tattoo. Roses, hearts, butterflies, and more quickly adorned faces and arms, sparking joy in everyone—and igniting a passion in Donna.

Motivated to expand her skills, Donna began attending industry conventions and learning from top artists. Her first major event, TransWorld 2000, introduced her to mentors like Jinny from Mehron and Nicki Wilson from Graftobian. These experiences opened her eyes to the wider world of face and body painting, and she set her sights on becoming a leading artist and educator in the field.

Her breakthrough came at the Face and Body Art International Convention (FABAIC), where her innovative tips and tools earned her the nickname “Miss Tool Time.” Known for her clever hacks—like using mesh tulle to secure stencils or designing multi-airbrush holders—Donna quickly became a recognized name in the industry. What started at a school event evolved into high-profile gigs, including the NFL’s Super Bowl Experience, MLB’s World Series, and international work with Kim Toms Entertainment Group in China.

By 2012, amidst a challenging economy, Donna shifted her focus to helping others succeed in the face and body painting community. Armed with nearly two decades of experience, she launched a series of educational and entertaining videos—coining the term “edutainment”—to teach both beginners and professionals. She also developed a series of innovative stencil products, including StencilEyes, Profiles, and QuickEZ, allowing artists to create stunning full-face designs in minutes.

Donna’s most influential contribution came with the creation of ProAiir, a revolutionary line of hybrid, alcohol-based, waterproof, and smudge-proof makeup and temporary tattoo ink. The line has since earned widespread praise and loyal fans across the globe.

Today, Donna Nowak’s career has come full circle. What began as a personal exploration has blossomed into a legacy of creativity, education, and opportunity. Her journey stands as a testament to the power of curiosity, community, and the desire to give back.

 

Meet Erika

Erika Nowak – The Next Generation at ShowOffs!

ShowOffs is proud to welcome another talented member of the Nowak family to the team—Erika Nowak! As the daughter of our founder, Donna Nowak, Erika has grown up immersed in the world of face and body art. You might recognize her from our early videos and tutorials, where she made her debut as a young assistant. Today, she’s stepping confidently into the spotlight as both a teacher and a product developer.

Erika plays a key role in nearly every aspect of customer engagement. From managing social media and creating video content to designing new additions for the popular StencilEyes line, she brings creativity, professionalism, and energy to everything she does. Chances are, if you call our office, Erika will be the friendly voice on the other end. And if you happen to order more than you intended—well, don’t be surprised. With a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations, she knows how to make a great case for every product!

Meet Bruce

Bruce joined the ShowOffs team in 2015 after stepping away from the world of Corporate America—and we’ve been running more smoothly ever since. As our go-to IT guru, Bruce works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our online stores operating at peak performance. From inventory management and restocking to product development and order fulfillment, he handles a little bit of everything with precision and reliability.

But Bruce is more than just our tech guy. Like everyone at ShowOffs, he’s a team player who jumps in wherever and whenever help is needed—no questions asked.

If you’ve attended a convention, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Bruce without even realizing it. That’s because he often appears in costume as one of his many alter egos (yes, including Kratos). Whether he’s behind the keyboard or behind a mask, Bruce is an essential part of what makes ShowOffs run—and a whole lot of fun to have around.

 

Meet Brock

Brock Nowak – The Tech Heir Apparent and Operational Powerhouse

Brock may be one of the newest additions to the ShowOffs family, but he’s quickly become an indispensable part of the team. Since joining the family business just a few years ago, he’s taken the reins on order processing, fulfillment, bookkeeping, and a growing list of behind-the-scenes operations that keep ShowOffs running like a well-oiled machine.

Often referred to as the "technology heir apparent" and quietly known around the office as the brains of the operation, Brock brings a fresh perspective, sharp problem-solving skills, and a knack for efficiency that elevate everything he touches.

When he's not streamlining systems or crunching numbers, you might catch him out from behind the desk and on the convention floor, engaging with customers and showing off his ShowOffs spirit—like at TransWorld 2023. Whether behind the scenes or in the spotlight, Brock is helping lead the next generation of innovation at ShowOffs.

 

Meet Karina

Karina – The Heart Behind the Hustle

Karina plays a vital role at ShowOffs, overseeing inventory organization, product labeling, packaging, and kit assembly with care and precision. She ensures our shelves stay fully stocked and our orders are packed to perfection—her attention to detail and work ethic help keep our operation running smoothly day in and day out.

Beyond her many responsibilities at ShowOffs, Karina is deeply devoted to her faith and active in her church community. Her warmth, kindness, and strong sense of purpose are evident in everything she does—whether she’s assembling product kits with care or volunteering her time to support others.

When she's not at work or church, Karina enjoys spending quality time with her family, always bringing the same dedication and heart to her home life as she does to her role with us.
